About Sarah

I am born and raised a Sacramentoan, and I absolutely love it here. The change in seasons and the beautiful fall and spring colors are so worth bearing the miserably hot summer months [plus, the Indian summers aren’t so bad].

My passion for writing stems from an extremely young age. My parents read to me while I was still in the womb, and from the moment I could speak, I was begging anyone who would listen to sit down and read to me. From a young age, I loved to write poems and short stories and would spend lots of my free time scribbling down ideas that popped into my head. I remember sitting down in front of my dad’s first laptop and thinking it was so cool that I could “write” by typing!

When I first started my blog, I really didn’t know what to do with it. Nothing I wrote ever felt worthy enough to publish. Who wants to read a bunch of white girl babble? But after months of starting posts and never publishing them, I realized that the reason I was writing was for therapy. To get things out of my head and into another place where I could reformulate my thoughts so that they weren’t just rattling around in my brain. And it was after that realization that I figured other people might be feeling the same way I do.

My creative side does not end with writing. I am a bookworm through and through [a sappy, bodice-ripping, historical romance novel will get me every time]. I also love crafting and turning present-giving into a beautiful project [always themed, of course]. I’m obsessed with home decor, and will constantly update rooms in my house by changing the throw pillows or the wall decorations [I hate knick-knacks, though – they are just clutter]. And instead of buying artwork, I like to challenge myself to paint my own. It’s the best way to “find” something that will go perfectly in your space!

I have always been an animal lover [when I was a kid I wanted to be a veterinarian when I grew up], but I am first and foremost a crazy dog lady. My dogs, Bella and Otis, are my entire world. They are spoiled rotten – I spare no expense for their health and happiness [I may or may not have purchased a custom $200+ collar for Bella for her 5th birthday..]. I am constantly researching diet, holistic healthcare, home remedies and new health studies to keep my babies in the best health they could possibly be in.

When I’m not writing, reading, or being dog-obsessed, I’m probably traveling somewhere. I love exploring! I am fortunate to have a house in Tahoe and a house in Pleasure Point [Capitola], so my fiancé, dogs and I spend as much time in both places as we possibly can. I have also been lucky enough to travel to Europe on several occasions, which I LOVE, but it’s also fun to stay closer to home.

I enjoy cooking, especially finding and creating new recipes for dinner, but I’ve recently discovered an affinity for baking! I always struggled with baking because the ingredients seemed like they had to be so precise in order for the recipe to come out perfectly, but now I find it so gratifying to pull a pan of donuts or pumpkin bread from the oven and have them be perfectly fluffy and delectable.

Thank you so much for following my blog. I do have a contact page, so if you have any questions or want to get in touch, feel free to shoot me a message. Happy reading!
